Issues with Project Management tools.

For past 8-9 months, I have been experimenting different PM softwares available on Internet, mostly in Free Category.

Earlier I tried with Zoho Suite, then Google Docs/Calender for scheduling etc. I was primarily looking for something which would give the value addition to my planning skills, but my target was always weighing down towards free softwares.

Finally some-where I settled down to ‘Tom’s Planner’, a Gantt Chart based project planning software, where I could manage all my projects on-line. Thought I continued to use the same for quite some time along with Google Docs & Calendar, my search for the perfect blend hasn’t over yet.

Recently I came across many PM softwares like SohoOS, Maven etc. Out of these, I would preferably choose SohoOS for my future projects ( not the current one). Of course it’s free & it combines all the necessary features, that too in single window.

The main issue though is different. Now, when I have already settled down to Tom’s Planner, I can’t leave my planning half-way & start using something new. Moreover, most of them don’t allow me to import from other planning tools. May be someday, I would opt for Paid PM Softwares, but really speaking, right now, my projects don’t afford the prices.

Till the inter-compatibility issues among various PM softwares is resolved, I would stick to my old Tom’s tool, till I find something really better & save my hassles of creating all the stuff again in new tool. It’s really not necessary.
